RTB Code of Conduct

RTB Volleyball is committed to providing a safe, positive, and character-building environment for youth volleyball athletes across our Chantilly and Manassas locations. This Code of Conduct applies to every athlete, coach, staff member, volunteer, and spectator associated with RTB Volleyball, at all practices, games, tournaments, clinics, and RTB-affiliated events, regardless of venue.

RTB's mission - "Players First. Always." - and our core belief that culture, character, and sportsmanship come before wins, are the foundation of every expectation below.

Athlete Code of Conduct

All athletes participating in RTB Volleyball programs are expected to:

  • Treat teammates, opposing players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect at all times, regardless of the outcome of a play, set, or match.

  • Compete with honesty and integrity, accepting officials' calls without argument or unsportsmanlike gestures.

  • Use appropriate language and conduct - no taunting, profanity, or intentional intimidation of opponents or officials.

  • Follow the reasonable instructions of coaches and staff regarding safety, training, and team rules.

  • Refrain from any form of bullying, hazing, or harassment of teammates or other athletes.

  • Represent RTB Volleyball positively on social media and in public settings connected to club activities.

  • Report any conduct that violates this Code, or any concern about their safety or a teammate's safety, to a coach or Club Leadership.

COACH Code of Conduct

All RTB Volleyball coaches, assistant coaches, and trainers are expected to:

  • Prioritize the physical and emotional safety and well-being of every athlete above competitive outcomes.

  • Model good sportsmanship, respect, and self-control at all times, including toward officials, opposing coaches, and spectators.

  • Communicate with athletes and families in a manner that is constructive, age-appropriate, and free of intimidation, humiliation, or verbal abuse.

  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with minors at all times, consistent with SafeSport standards, including avoiding one-on-one unobserved situations with athletes.

  • Complete and maintain current USA Volleyball background screening and SafeSport/impact certification as a condition of coaching with RTB.

  • Enforce this Code of Conduct consistently among athletes and promptly report any suspected violation, misconduct, or safety concern to Club Leadership.

  • Never coach under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and never provide or permit their use by minors.

Spectator and parent Code of Conduct

All parents, guardians, and spectators at RTB Volleyball events are expected to:

  • Support all athletes - RTB's and our opponents' - with positive, encouraging conduct; berating or negative behavior of any kind directed towards players, coaches, or officials is never permitted.

  • Refrain from confronting coaches, officials, or opposing players or families before, during, or immediately after a contest; concerns should be directed to Club Leadership through appropriate channels.

  • Respect facility rules at all host gyms, including Fairfax County Public Schools and Fairfax County Park Authority venues.

  • Avoid any physical altercation, threatening language, or harassment; such conduct may result in immediate removal from the venue and further disciplinary action under RTB's Disciplinary Procedures Policy.

Facility & Guest Respect (All Individuals)

Because RTB Volleyball operates as a guest in school and county gymnasiums, every athlete, coach, parent, and spectator is expected to:

  • Treat the host facility with the same respect as the owner would - no food or drink of any kind is permitted in the gym.

  • Collect all personal belongings and leave the gym promptly after each practice or event, in the same condition it was found.

  • Supervise any children they bring who are not participating in the session, keeping them within direct sight at all times and out of active play areas.

  • Take responsibility for any guest they bring to an RTB event, ensuring that guest understands and follows this Code of Conduct.

  • Follow all posted rules of the host facility, including those specific to Fairfax County Public Schools and Fairfax County Park Authority venues.
